Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is four times as common in women than in men, similar to other autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) and multiple sclerosis. It often strikes women of childbearing years, and is 3 times more common than HIV infection in women and 25 times more common than full blown AIDS in women. CFS is more prevalant in women than lung cancer, breast cancer or multiple sclerosis. There is some evidence that it is may be genetic, however, nothing is conclusive as of yet.
